"Merry Mid-Century" Holiday Play Is Coming

Derek Long is an award-winning, bi-coastal actor, producer, and director based in Asheville, NC, who enjoys practicing his art in whatever corner of the globe it takes him. His work can be seen online, on DVD, VOD, cable, and in-person on the stage. Enjoy and come back often for the latest news on Derek Long and his upcoming attractions.

I will be directing a new holiday play at The Found Theater called "Merry Mid-Century A Found Tribute To 1950s TV Chirstmas Specials"! Here is the official blurb on the production. Come on out and have a holiday laugh or two and help support the local homeless.

Feeling stressed out over the holidays? Having anxiety over the color of the Starbucks seasonal cup? Can't decide whether to say "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Holidays?" Relax...we're here to make America merry again with one of those warm and schmaltzy 1950s TV Christmas specials, featuring the shining stars of the day. Join us in a simpler time when there were only three TV stations and everything was black and white.

Bring a new pair of men's or women's socks to be donated to Long Beach agencies providing assistance to the homeless and receive a complimentary eggnog or other festive beverage.

The run dates for this show are:

Friday & Saturday, December 2 to 17, 8 pm
Sunday Matinees: December 4 and 18, 2:30 pm.
Tickets: $15 (kids under 12, $8)

A great actor is generous. They're in tune with themselves physically and emotionally. They come to terms with nerves, and work with it. They are present on stage, and they give themselves completely to the other actors, who are able to give back to them. There is give and take. The story is told, and there is total connection with the audience.
